We’ve heard some pretty unusual talk around clear aligners, and we’re here to debunk the myths.

#1 They’re hard to adapt to.

That’s a stereotype we hope you won’t fall into. Like any treatment out there, it takes dedication and a level of patience. However, aligners are designed to be convenient: they’re removable, invisible, and comfortable. They’ll let you discretely straighten your teeth in an average of 6 months without worrying about metal strings clogging your mouth. And the best part is, you can take them off whenever you want to eat or drink. That’s a win-win situation if you ask us.

#2 They’re made of cheap plastic.

We don’t know about the rest of them, but Basma aligners are:

1. Made of high quality and food-grade elastic plastic
2. Free of parabens, BPA, and phthalates
3. ISO and CE certified

Bottom line: we don’t do cheap.

#3 They hurt just as much as braces.

Let’s be clear – nothing hurts as much as braces. We cut and polish aligners to make them fit your teeth perfectly, and comfortably. Sure, you might experience some discomfort in the beginning, but that’ll usually go away after a few hours or days. Unlike braces, they won’t cause blisters in your mouth or make it painful while eating. If you’d like to know more about life with aligners, check out our blog post on dealing with discomfort.

#4 They break easily.

We clinically design and 3D print aligners to make them flexible, yet resistant. Unless you step on them (which we hope you won’t), you’ve got nothing to worry about.

#5 They have a weird taste.

Not only are they colorless, but clear aligners are also flavorless. Since we’re working with medical-grade plastic, we offer comfort on all levels. However, you might experience a build-up of smell and taste if you don’t wash them properly or if you smoke and drink certain beverages while wearing them.

#6 They’re not practical after a certain age.

We say it again, and again: you’re never too old to begin an aligner treatment. As you grow older, your teeth will naturally shift out of place – especially if you haven’t properly worn your retainers after a braces treatment. Whether you’re a parent, a grandparent, an entrepreneur, or even a college student, aligners will help you gently and conveniently readjust your teeth while you achieve every milestone in your life.

Now that we’ve ‘cleared’ the air, let’s get you started on your smile journey!
